I have been instructing in Val d’Isere now for 7 years and have over a decade of experience teaching skiing at all levels of the sport. I love teaching all aspects of the skiing; whether it’s seeing the progression through beginner sessions and allowing people to experience the mountain for the first time, helping people break through their nerves in their skiing and being able to move forward with their technique or taking skiers to explore the wealth of the off piste in the Espace Killy.

I also work with the British Association of Snowsports Instructors and assess instructors working towards their qualifications at a variety of different levels. In this role, where I refine the teaching techniques of others and coach to a very high technical level, I am able to reflect continuously on my own instructing and develop new innovative teaching ideas to then use in all of my own sessions.

Skiing has always been my passion and I am lucky enough to have skied and worked in the southern hemisphere in Treble Cone – New Zealand, as well as across the Alps in Courmayer – Italy, Verbier –Switzerland and Megeve and Chamonix before settling in Val d’isere, now for my 10th winter, where I have enjoyed family holidays from the age of 3.

When I’m not on the slopes I spend my summers in the UK teaching tennis and cycling whenever I can find the time.
I look forward to skiing with you this winter and taking your skiing to the next level.

James gave me my first off-piste lesson. He supplied all the relevant safety equipment and took the time to explain it all carefully and thoroughly. The lesson itself was very enjoyable with plenty of technical insights; this was helped hugely by James’s excellent local knowledge, finding different snow conditions and challenges to make the most of the three hours. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending: thanks very much!

We had a day and a half of lessons from James and he was brilliant. James was incredibly patient and gave simple, understandable instructions and feedback. I felt my skiing technique improve within the first morning and more importantly my confidence on the slopes. I would defintiely recommend James, and we will be booking lessons with him again.

James instructs the instructors which means there aren’t many better. He has the best technique of any Brit you will ever ski with! He also makes it fun and my teenage boys love his lessons so much so that our last 5 trips have been to Val D’Isere! Highly recommend.
