I am from Trento (Italy) a little city in the heart of the Dolomites. I started skiing when I was 3 years old and soon enough I started ski racing. I internationally ski raced for 12 years.
During my life I was lucky to live abroad (Colorado, Iceland and Courchevel) where I was able to teach skiing and follow my passion for ski and off-piste disciplines.
Over the course of my bachelor’s degree in Milan (Italy) and my master at St-Andrews University (Scotland), I managed to teach and follow several ski instructor courses, where I gained a more intimate understanding of the practice of skiing.
In the past few years I decided to teach in Courchevel and Meribel where I managed to apply my knowledge and experience successfully. Last year I spent a full season working as a full-time ski instructor in the Three Valley resort.
I worked with all categories of skiers from beginners to the advanced level and I did extra specialization for kids and off-piste disciplines.
Matteo was brilliant - His attention to detail was superb, especially with my children and wife who has never skied before. Friendly, helpful and bubbly, I would highly recommend using Matteo.
Matteo is personable, friendly, flexible and adjusted each lesson to our requirements. The lesson had three people of mixed ability and Matteo was able to juggle that well. His technical instructions were clear and helpful and the exercises he incorporated helped each of us. We were impressed that Matteo came over one evening to run through videos he had taken of each of us to better explain where we were good and areas for improvement. Finally, he knew the three valleys well and over our six days with him guided us through the whole of the three valleys.
Very effective at explaining techniques both verbally and through exercises. Definitely would recommend to someone who is already a good skier, but needs to brush up on the details
Matteo taught my son and he thoroughly enjoyed the lessons. He made it a lot of fun, with lots of variety. And he also gave him a trophy at the end. One of his own from when he was younger! What a lovely guy. Nothing was too much trouble for him.
I am 25 years old and only learnt how to ski last year with the help of Matteo. Matteo got recommended to me through a good friend. Learning how to ski with 24 years is definitely a challenge but I have to say with the help of Matteo all my fear went away, which is extremely important when learning how to ski. He is a very patient instructor, who motivates you to keep on going. I had a lot of fun working with him. And I will definetely be back.
Learn how to ski in just few hours! Really patient and experienced. Highly recommended!
The best skiing experience ever! I managed to achieve great progress in only two sessions. I feel much better now. I definitely recommend Matteo! 🎿
You can arrange the meeting point with your chosen instructor by using the Maison Sport messaging system. We recommend agreeing this before you book your lessons, but it can always be arranged at a later date. The instructor should be able to suggest somewhere that is convenient for you both.
Any instructor that has a blue ‘verified’ tick icon on their profile has had their qualifications vetted and verified by the Maison Sport team, the level of qualification required to have a verified account on Maison Sport varies slightly by country. As follows: France – all verified instructors must carry a ‘Carte Professionelle’ licence, the qualification requirements for this licence are very high. The licence is administered by the French Government (to attain a Carte Professionelle most instructors will have studied for an average of 5 years+ to attain the correct level of qualification). Aside from requiring the instructor to have the highest level of qualification, which includes numerous teaching and technical performance diplomas in skiing or snowboarding, European mountain safety courses and the Euro speed test, the instructors are also required to have a criminal record check and a first aid certificate. Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Finland, Scotland, Spain – all verified instructors must carry a minimum level of qualification which must be at the ISIA card level or above. Instructors working independently must provide documentation to show they meet the local regulatory requirements to do so and instructors that are working for a ski school must provide details of the school they work for.
Unless otherwise agreed with the instructor no more than 6 people can take part in a lesson, each instructor will have their own policy for this, so it is best to just double check with them by sending a message. Most instructors won't charge extra if there is more than 1 person taking part in the lesson, but always best to check with them before booking.s
