The resort is connected to the neighbouring resorts of Sestriere and Sauze d’Oulx via a well-structured and efficient lift system, offering a vast array of thrilling runs and off-piste skiing opportunities. This guide will provide you with all the information you need to have a memorable skiing experience in Sansicario.

Sansicario Ski Area

The Sansicario ski area is divided into two main sections; Sansicario Alto and Sansicario Basso, both directly accessible from the village centre. The ski area is composed of 75 runs, with 25% green, 35% blue, 30% red and 10% black.

Beginner Skiing in Sansicario

Sansicario is an excellent choice for beginners. With a number of dedicated nursery slopes and wide, gentle runs, there’s plenty to explore. The Village nursery slope is a great place to start, followed by the Baby Sansicario lift. Once more confidence is gained, beginners can progress to the Fraiteve and Rio Nero green runs. The resort has a team of exceptional ski instructors who can guide beginners around and help them advance their skiing skills.

Intermediate Skiing in Sansicario

Sansicario is a paradise for intermediate skiers, with an abundance of blue and red runs. The Sansicario Alto area is an excellent starting point for lower-intermediate skiers, with a variety of wide, undulating blues. More advanced skiers should try the Olympic Woman’s Downhill run, a notable course from the 2006 Winter Olympics. Remember to take it easy as the grading system is slightly challenging compared to other resorts.

Advanced Skiing in Sansicario

With a good number of black runs, Sansicario offers a challenging experience for advanced skiers. The most well-known run is the Kandahar Banchetta, a challenging black run with a 60% gradient and a 950m vertical descent. For a more thrilling experience, try the Motta or the Sises areas, both offering steep mogul runs.

Off-piste Skiing in Sansicario

Sansicario offers an array of off-piste skiing opportunities. The areas around Mount Fraiteve and Mount Sises are popular spots for experienced skiers. The Motta area is an off-piste paradise with its long, unmarked descents. Always remember to hire a local guide or instructor when venturing off-piste to ensure your safety.
