Châtel Resort Overview

For beginners, the Super-Châtel area offers a range of gentle slopes, with easy access via the gondola from the village centre. Intermediate skiers can enjoy the varied terrain on the Linga and Pre-la-Joux sectors, offering a mix of blue and red pistes. 

For advanced skiers, there are several challenging black runs on offer, with the renowned La Muret and Les Combes standing out for their steep descents. The off-piste opportunities in Châtel are also plentiful, with guided tours available for those looking to explore beyond the marked trails.

Châtel is also a paradise for freestyle skiers and snowboarders, with the Smoothpark in Super-Châtel offering a variety of features for all levels. For the more experienced riders, the Airbag in Pre-la-Joux provides the perfect opportunity to practice tricks and jumps.

Châtel is an ideal choice for families, offering a safe environment and a wide range of family-friendly amenities. Châtel offers a lively après ski scene, with numerous bars and pubs providing entertainment long into the night. Le Tunnel is a popular choice for its lively atmosphere, while L’ Avalanche is known for its live music and themed nights. For a quieter evening, La P’tite Galerie offers a relaxed setting with a selection of local wines.

Châtel boasts a range of excellent dining options. Le Fiacre is a must-visit for its traditional Savoyard cuisine, while La Poya offers a gourmet menu in a cosy mountain setting. For pizza lovers, Pizz’ Châtel is a local favourite. For lunch with a view, there’s Le Vieux Four, with its panoramic terrace overlooking the slopes.

How to Get to Châtel 

The quickest way to get to Châtel from the UK is to fly to Geneva Airport, which is an hour and a half drive away. Other nearby airports include Lyon-Saint Exupery (2h30m away) and Chambery-Savoie (2h away). If you prefer to travel by train, the nearest station is Thonon-les-Bains, which is a one-hour drive from the resort.
