An Update From The Slopes

31 December, 2021 3 min read

Winter season is in full motion, so we would like to give you a little update from some of our favourite ski resorts. Even though restrictions are in place for UK travellers going to France, this hasn’t stopped skiers and snowboarders from travelling to other countries such as Italy or Switzerland in order to get back on their skis or boards.

Here’s what’s been going on at our most popular ski resorts.

Megeve

We know Megeve is a favourite destination amongst people from all around the world which is why it’s no surprise the amount of lessons the instructors of Maison Sport have completed there in the past few weeks. This season Megeve has seen non stop snow giving its tourists the perfect conditions for some off-piste excursions and quite a few snowball fights that children take very seriously. If the season keeps going like this, we’ll probably be able to sneak in a mountain escape to Megeve as late as April 2022.

Courmayeur

Italy has been very popular this year as a ski destination,  as long as you’re vaccinated then you will have no problem skiing in most of its ski resorts. Without any restrictions in place when you enter Italy, this could be your escape to the mountains. Christmas in Courmayeur was covered in snow, and the new year will be welcomed with a weekend of blue skies and perfect skiing conditions.

Val d’Isere

Val d’Isere never disappoints, whether you’re looking for fresh snow, great après-ski, or just a charming and welcoming atmosphere. Winter here so far has been sensational, with snowfalls of up to 60cm in just a few hours! With their closing date in early  May it gives us plenty of time to plan a trip later in the season, say for example half term in Val d’Isere…sounds exactly like what we need.

Zermatt

The incredible Matterhorn, open all year round welcoming people from all over the world, so we have plenty of time to make our way over there. Due to the current French restrictions in place, many people decided to make their way to Zermatt and not skip out on their winter holidays. Any time of the year is great to go to Zermatt, but we are sure that you’ll not miss out on this ski season so keep an eye out on the news and be ready to book your holiday as soon as possible if you haven’t done so already. Being one of our most popular ski resorts, instructors are getting booked up really fast.

Chamonix Mont-Blanc

The fact that you can reach Chamonix Mont Blanc from Italy, France, and Switzerland makes it the perfect destination for these ever changing times, just choose the country to which you can travel to and go from there. Chamonix has something for everyone, from challenging runs to easy pistes for you to learn how to ski. During bluebird days you’ll not only see people skiing down the mountains, but if you look up to the sky, you’ll see plenty of people paragliding, something you could also try if you’re looking for an adventure.

It looks like this winter season is making up for lost time with the amount of snow that has fallen and the incredible weather conditions most ski resorts have had since their opening dates, and will continue to have throughout the next few weeks. It’s important to keep in mind that restrictions are constantly changing and therefore you might be able to travel to France again in no time. In the meantime Switzerland and Italy are still open for UK travellers which means your ski holiday can still happen! Book your lessons now and don’t miss out on all the great snow in the Alps.
