Lech Resort Overview

Sat at 1,450m with the highest ski lift reaching 2,450m, Lech is a stunning ski resort located in the Arlberg region of Austria. The picturesque village is a gateway to the vast Arlberg ski area, which offers an impressive 305km of diverse, skiable terrain.

Boasting a fascinating history dating back to medieval times, the charming resort exudes a sense of luxury and elegance. Its attractive, chalet-style accommodation, ranging from boutique hotels to lavish self-catering apartments, offers the perfect retreat after a day on the slopes. Known for its consistent snowfall, Lech typically enjoys a thick blanket of snow throughout the ski season, which usually runs from early December to late April.

Skiing in Lech

Skiing in Lech is an experience that caters to all abilities. The Arlberg ski pass grants access to the 88 lifts and 305km of pistes across the entire Arlberg region, including St Anton, Warth-Schröcken, Stuben, Zürs, and of course, Lech itself.

The resort is a haven for beginners and intermediates, with ample wide blue and red runs on which to build confidence. The gentle slopes around Oberlech are perfect for beginners, while the long, sweeping blue run from Zürs to Lech is a must for intermediates.

Advanced skiers will not be left wanting, with challenging off-piste terrain and black runs such as the steep and exhilarating Kriegerhorn. The White Ring – a famous 22km round trip encompassing a 5,500m vertical – is a must for every seasoned skier.

Freeriders will also find plenty to enjoy in Lech. The Arlberg region is renowned for its excellent off-piste routes, and Lech’s location on the northern edge of the Alps means it often receives more snow than its southern counterparts.

Is Lech Family-friendly?

Lech is an excellent choice for families, with a reputation for being one of the most family-friendly resorts in Austria. The pedestrianised village centre and wide choice of ski-in-ski-out accommodation make it a safe and convenient choice for families. Plenty of family-friendly restaurants, an outdoor ice rink and a dedicated children’s skiing area make Lech a hit with younger skiers. Special family lift pass deals are also available.

Après-Ski Scene in Lech

Lech offers a refined après-ski scene, more low-key than its rowdy neighbour St Anton, yet still lively. With a range of sophisticated bars and lounges, the resort offers a relaxed atmosphere perfect for winding down after a day on the slopes.

The most iconic après-ski venue in Lech is undoubtedly the Ice Bar, known for its vibrant atmosphere and fantastic cocktails. For a more chilled evening, the Fux Jazz Bar offers live music in a cosy setting.
