What Can We Expect This Winter?

15 July, 2021 5 min read

Don’t know about you, but we are ready to pack our bags!

During the last year, the travel industry can be described with one word…uncertain. We have spent an entire year booking and canceling flights and vacations, to and from all over the world, but not anymore. Every week we become more hopeful and confident that this time we will be packing our bags and boarding our flights, and finally, be able to take that long-overdue vacation we all need.

Different countries are announcing daily the easing of restrictions and the implementation of some kind of covid passport or allowing tourists into their country if they have been fully vaccinated. Well, given the incredible rate of vaccines we can see all around the world, we are very hopeful for the winter season 2021/22, and here is how we think it will go.

What About Travelling?

When it comes to travel…nobody really knows what is going on, but from what we can gather from various articles and announcements, being fully vaccinated is our golden ticket for travelling this winter.  In June, Switzerland dropped quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers which means all of our favourite resorts there will be fully accessible this winter!

The good news is that countries are doing everything in their power to make sure that by wintertime, if not earlier, travelling will be allowed and back to normal with no need to quarantine or spending insane amounts of money on tests. Although this is the most uncertain aspect of our holidays on the slopes we recommend that you book in advance, even before restrictions officially change. Why? Well, there are two reasons, first of all, if you book in advance in a country that is not yet open but will probably be by winter, then you will for sure end up paying a lot less than after their opening is announced. Secondly, by now it is so simple to cancel or change your booking that it’s just worth planning ahead, spending less, and just cancelling on the off chance that you have to.

What About Your Bookings?

Even though some people are still hesitant when it comes to bookings, we have been seeing a great number of bookings coming in for the winter season 2021/22. Many people will not be able to travel during summer due to restrictions still being in place which leaves us to plan for the next big holiday which is winter. By the time winter comes most of us will have had our second jabs, which in theory will allow us to travel with no need to quarantine in many of our favourite destinations.

Companies have put in place new cancellation policies and payment systems to ensure their customers have a stress-free process when it comes to booking their holidays in advance. Here at Maison Sport, we have an extremely flexible cancellation policy when it comes to any problem related to Covid, and for the upcoming winter season, we will also be implementing deposits. This new feature will allow you to book your lesson in advance with just a deposit instead of paying the full amount right away, reducing the stress of uncertainty. Keep an eye out for our emails since we’ll be announcing as soon as the deposit system is up and running.

Even without our deposit feature in place yet, it’s evident that all of you are ready for a good winter on the slopes. Our advice when it comes to booking is to go for it, just check cancellation policies first and you’ll see that in most cases it’s easy to cancel. The way we see it, it’s better to cancel a trip than to not be able to go anywhere because you didn’t book in advance, don’t you think?

How Many People Can Go to a Resort?

Ski resorts have yet to announce whether they will be operating at full capacity or reduced capacity to keep social distancing in place. Whichever the case will be, chances are ski resorts will be completely booked. If you feel the same way we do, then you are definitely craving some fresh snow, lunch on top of mountains with incredible views, never-ending après with your friends or a cosy night in front of a fire with your family. The point we’re making here is that everyone wants the same things which is why it’s better if you’re one of the first ones to secure your place on the slopes.

If it isn’t clear enough, we are ready for winter vacations to get back to normal and we think you are too.  We are constantly monitoring news in different countries to make sure we can let you know as soon as possible when you can get on a plane, so keep a constant eye out for our newsletters to be the first one to know.

In the meantime, start planning and consider making some bookings already because one thing is for sure…as soon as they give the green light for winter holidays, places are going to go fast and you don’t want to be left behind. Many of the instructors on the Maison Sport website are already filling up their calendars which shows once more how excited people are about this winter season. Start planning your holidays and find the independent instructor that is right for you now.

Make sure you check government policies constantly not only for your country but also for the country you plan to travel to. If you are travelling to or from the UK make sure you check the government website to keep up-to-date with the latest travel announcements. We’ll see you on the slopes!
