Key resort fun facts:
1. Courchevel – With a huge 600km of slopes up to 3200m and 180 ski lifts, it is safe to say that you have plenty of options available when it comes to skiing or snowboarding in Courchevel! Also, the Three Valleys in which Courchevel lies is approximately the size of the 5 largest ski resorts in the United States combined!
2. Val Thorens – VT won the World Ski Awards prize for ‘Worlds Best Ski Resort’ three years in a row – with great skiing and brilliant nightlife all at a cheaper price in comparison to other resorts, you can see why!
3. Meribel - Meribel is renowned for one very important thing when it comes to skiing and snowing – its snow! More than 85% of the resort is situated at least 1,800 metres above sea level, making for ideal snow conditions throughout the season.
4. Les Gets – Les Gets has 18 restaurants situated on the slopes, this ensures that you can keep your belly happy without having to trek back to base to refuel. (It also makes for great apres-ski backdrops!)
5. Les Arcs – Les Arcs’ slopes are hugely varied, from friendly beginner runs to some seriously steep ungroomed black runs, making it the perfect destination for the first-time skier all the way to the more experienced.
6. Chamonix – The very first Winter Olympics was hosted in Chamonix back in 1924. Not only is it a ski and snowboarders paradise with plenty of off-piste, but also doubles up as a ‘Mecca for trail runners’ in the summer too.
7. Megeve – Slightly less well known, the small town of Megeve is old France at it’s finest! With classic mountain chalets and a more traditional French feel as opposed to other, more modernised resorts such as Meribel and Courchevel.
8. Avoriaz – Avoriaz boasts a seasonal snowfall average of nearly 8m, making it one of the snowiest ski resorts in France.
