Perched at an altitude of 1,860m, Alpe d’Huez is a renowned ski resort, popularly known as the ‘Island in the Sun’ due to its sunny disposition. The resort was developed following the 1936 Winter Olympics and since then, it has been a favourite amongst winter sports enthusiasts. Freestyle skiers and snowboarders can show off their tricks at the two snowparks, including modules, rails, boxes, and a half-pipe.

How to Get to Alpe d’Huez 

The three closest airports to Alpe d’Huez are Grenoble (2h15m), Lyon-Saint Exupéry (2h30m), and Geneva (3h30m). Transfers from these airports are available via bus or taxi. If you’re travelling by train, the closest station is Grenoble, from which you can take a bus to the resort. For those driving, there are several paid parking lots available on the outskirts of the resort.
