Spring doesn’t mean the ski season is over, if anything, it means you’ll get to enjoy a lot more bluebird days and you’ll be able to hit the slopes without 100 thermic layers and a lot less people skiing around you. This spring make sure you go to the right resorts, where you can still find fresh powder and enjoy the last few months of the ski season high up on the mountains. Read on for some of the top spring skiing destinations in Europe.

Val Thorens, France

One of the best ski resorts for spring skiing is Val Thorens. As one of the highest ski resorts in Europe and forming part of the Three Valleys Ski Area, Val Thorens is a must for spring skiers. It’s highest peak is over 3,200m which is why it’s guaranteed to get snow until late in the season and the best news is that the ski area will not close until early May. With countless restaurants and chalets up on the mountains and with the possibility of skiing to both Courchevel and Meribel for lunch during a gorgeous sunny day, we promise you can’t go wrong with booking your spring ski trip in Val Thorens.

Flaine, France

Don’t underestimate this small resort, it’s annual average snowfall at the top of the 2,500m Grandes Platières is 15m, making it one of the skiable mountains with the most snow. Flaine is also one of the resorts with the best snow preservation, meaning that even if the snow has a dry spell, you will still find good snow in Flaine. This is possible thanks to the high mountainous area surrounding it, and the fact that many of its slopes are facing north/north-west, allowing Flaine to have all the qualities to make it a perfect destination for anyone looking to ski until late this season.

Ischgl, Austria

Thanks to excellent snow cover, Ischgl has a very long season, so it is a great resort for Spring skiing. Just like in Flaine, many of the slopes in this resort are facing north-west, which will guarantee good skiing conditions for longer. Every year they celebrate the end of the season in Ischgl with the Top of The Mountain Closing Concert at which various international stars such as Elton John or The Killers have performed in previous years. Celebrate the end of the ski season with an epic concert in Ischgl and before you know it the season will be starting again.

Saas-Fee, Switzerland

Nicknamed “The Pearl of The Alps”, Saas-Fee not only has breathtaking views but it also has a glacier which allows you to ski until late during the season. With over 100km of slopes, Saas-Fee is the perfect place for beginner and intermediate skiers. This ski resort is also recognised as one of Switzerland’s most family friendly resorts which makes it the perfect destination for an Easter family ski holiday. In Saas-Fee it is often the case that you will find fresh powder as late as April.

Verbier, Switzerland

Take advantage of the quieter slopes in Spring while skiing in one of the most popular resorts in Switzerland. Reaching heights of 3,330m it’s easy for Verbier to get snowfall almost all year round and if one day they find themselves short on fresh powder, they can always count on a number of snow cannons but we have faith in mother nature. This glamorous resort is a must-visit ski resort for sunny Spring skiing.

Val d’Isere, France

The ski resort of Val d’Isere stands at an incredible altitude of 1850, with slopes reaching over 3,000m. With its highest peak at almost 3,400m, it’s no surprise that this ski resort is incredibly popular when it comes to spring skiing. Many of Val d’Isere’s slopes are north facing, helping to preserve snow conditions for longer. If you’re on a friends trip and in the mood to party, you’ll find La Folie Douce at the top of the mountain, considered one of the best places to après ski. Go celebrate the late end of the season in Val d’Isere, you won’t be disappointed!

These are only a few of the ski resorts which will still be getting fresh snow and operating until late in the ski season, but they are some of the most snow-sure! Make sure to book an instructor to help perfect your skiing technique in Spring snow.
