About Flaine

Flaine is in the heart of the Grand Massif ski area.
Flaine is a highly popular ski resort nestled in the heart of the Haute-Savoie region in France. Built in the 1960s in a large, snow-filled bowl facing west—often referred to as the 'big snowy bowl'—Flaine is part of the renowned Grand Massif ski area and offers some of the best skiing experiences in the region.

While its 1960s architecture may not be the most charming, Flaine more than makes up for it with its prime location and excellent skiing. Though the concrete buildings aren't the most picturesque, if you look past the architecture, you'll find a family-friendly ski resort with top-notch facilities and fantastic skiing opportunities. Most skiing accommodation is ski-in, ski-out, apartment-style buildings, which are perfect for families. The ski resort is also car-free, with a vibrant pedestrianised centre offering family-friendly amenities such as a swimming pool, ice rink, and cultural centre.

Flaine is also a great place for children to learn to ski, with plenty of beginner slopes and attentive instructors offering children group ski lessons as well as adult private ski lessons through platforms like Maison Sport. For intermediate and advanced skiers, the resort provides thrilling runs and off-piste skiing areas, particularly in the Combe de Gers, a challenging spot on the 'other side' of Flaine.

If you're skiing on a budget, Flaine is also one of the best options for you. It's a budget-friendly ski resort with some of the most affordable ski pass prices in the French Alps. Additionally, Flaine is incredibly accessible, located just a 1 to 2-hour drive from Geneva Airport, making it an ideal option for skiers seeking a ski resort with a short transfer time.
