Hannah B began skiing at the respectable age of 10 when her family moved to Zürich. Family ski weekends and holidays soon gave rise to an obsession with skiing and the mountains. After University, this obsession developed into a desire to pursue a career in ski teaching and Hannah moved to the Alps. Over a decade later and she is still here.
Hannah is a qualified ski instructor to the top level, both British Level 4 ISTD and Swiss Brevet Federal. Hannah is proud to be a trainer for the British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI), coaching and examining hopeful instructors, helping them to find and nurture their passion for teaching and skiing.
Hannah has taught throughout Europe, for a brief stint in Mayrhofen, Austria, before finding her true home in the Swiss Alps. She has also dabbled with the Southern Hemisphere, teaching in Perisher, Australia, for a handful of seasons. She had a 1-year hiatus where she completed her Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Secondary Mathematics, but the Alps promptly drew her back. Whilst Hannah remains busy with returning guests and ski instructor training, she will always make time for her clients and enjoys meeting new people and skiing with new guests each year.
Expect a high quality, fun and flexible lesson! I hold the highest certification in the British system and hold both Swiss and French recognition. In Switzerland I am qualified to teach off-piste (this is regulated at the Federal level in Switzerland). In the British system I am a Trainer and Examiner of other ski instructors.
I did not ski with Hanna. She was apparently taken ill. I skied with Cody and she was excellent in all regards. Skilled, patient, articulate and pleasant. I could not be happier with my first Zermatt ski experience and that is attributable to Cody in all regards.
Hannah gave our three kids the best training. I would highly recommend her. She more than delivered on what she promised as an instructor
Hannah was a fantastic instructor and guide for myself and my 14yo son in Zermatt for the week. She was patient and friendly, adapting advice to our different skill levels.
I can’t praise Hannah and Steve highly enough. Steve managed to juggle a party of 14 with a few other instructors drafted in. All mixed ages and abilities progressed incredibly. As well as being a fantastic coach the kids all loved him and miss him on our return. No point going anywhere else get the best, Steve Thanks Michael
Hannah was injured but her replacements were amazing and really good with my 6y old son
Hannah connected me with Anna V who was amazing and so helpful - always patient with me as a beginner for all my questions and falls, encouraging, and knows how to teach - the tricks and tips she gave were all immediately applicable and I could see growth in one day of lessons, and was skiing slopes with her by the end of the second! Highly recommend, planning to ski with her again next time I visit!
Hannah taught my 10 and 7 year old daughters over a couple of weeks in Zermatt and Saas Fee. The girls were already competent skiers but Hannah was really able to help them both with their technique as well as to extend their comfort zone. My younger daughter in particular developed tremendously and became very confident with all terrain, while my elder daughter who already ski races to a high standard, made some great improvements and became adept at skiing powder and moguls. Above all, Hannah was super friendly and really inspired the girls. They both loved skiing with her and will really cherish their time with her.
Hannah is head and shoulders above the rest. This is my 4th trip back to Zermatt to ski, and my 3rd time with Hannah. Having had lessons with other instructors before, i can tell you she's the absolute best! Patient and friendly, she makes the steep slopes feel like a walk in the (wolli) park. With her, one is confident enough to tackle the red slopes. Get Hannah to teach you. You'll wish she could follow you on all your ski holidays elsewhere too!
Great teaching for all levels of ability from near beginning to advanced. Very friendly!
We had a great lesson with Hannah! She really made us feel comfortable and taught us many great tips for first timers. We started out on the bunny hill, but by the end of the day we were already skiing on the blue slopes.
She's brilliant with all ages, and punctual, and a great teacher.
You can arrange the meeting point with your chosen instructor by using the Maison Sport messaging system. We recommend agreeing this before you book your lessons, but it can always be arranged at a later date. The instructor should be able to suggest somewhere that is convenient for you both.
Any instructor that has a blue ‘verified’ tick icon on their profile has had their qualifications vetted and verified by the Maison Sport team, the level of qualification required to have a verified account on Maison Sport varies slightly by country. As follows: France – all verified instructors must carry a ‘Carte Professionelle’ licence, the qualification requirements for this licence are very high. The licence is administered by the French Government (to attain a Carte Professionelle most instructors will have studied for an average of 5 years+ to attain the correct level of qualification). Aside from requiring the instructor to have the highest level of qualification, which includes numerous teaching and technical performance diplomas in skiing or snowboarding, European mountain safety courses and the Euro speed test, the instructors are also required to have a criminal record check and a first aid certificate. Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Finland, Scotland, Spain – all verified instructors must carry a minimum level of qualification which must be at the ISIA card level or above. Instructors working independently must provide documentation to show they meet the local regulatory requirements to do so and instructors that are working for a ski school must provide details of the school they work for.
Unless otherwise agreed with the instructor no more than 6 people can take part in a lesson, each instructor will have their own policy for this, so it is best to just double check with them by sending a message. Most instructors won't charge extra if there is more than 1 person taking part in the lesson, but always best to check with them before booking.s
