About Val Thorens

Val Thorens is the highest resort in the 3 Valleys.
Nestled in the Savoie region of the northern French Alps, Val Thorens stands as the highest point in the Three Valleys—the world's largest interconnected ski area. With 600 km of slopes linking resorts like Méribel, Les Menuires, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, La Tania, and Courchevel, it offers an unparalleled skiing experience. Sitting at an impressive high altitude of 2,300 metres and reaching up to 3,230 metres, Val Thorens is a snow-sure ski resort that guarantees reliable snow across both the resort and the slopes, ensuring a long season that typically stretches from November to early May.

The resort caters to skiers of all levels with its 150 km of slopes and 78 pistes, ranging from gentle beginner greens to challenging black runs. Beginners can take advantage of five designated learning areas, including an "Easy Rider" zone equipped with four magic carpets and a specialised beginner lift pass that provides access to eight lifts. Intermediate skiers will love the wide, scenic runs of Moraine and Peclet, while advanced skiers can tackle steep, high-altitude descents around Orelle and test their skills on the thrilling Plan d'Eau mogul field.

For off-piste enthusiasts, Val Thorens offers renowned routes like Lac du Lou, as well as opportunities around Glacier de Thorens and the Orelle Valley. Although the resort's purpose-built layout from the 1970s may lack traditional alpine charm, its ski-in, ski-out accommodations provide unmatched convenience. A variety of lodging options are available, from luxury hotels to budget-friendly apartments.

Maison Sport offers tailored private ski lessons in Val Thorens, as well as group ski lessons that cater to all ski levels. Our expert, multilingual ski instructors will guide you and give you personalised skiing tips so that you can enjoy the best time on the slopes.
