Veysonnaz Resort Overview

Perched at 1,400m with the highest lift reaching an impressive 3,330m, Veysonnaz is a traditional Swiss village that is part of the extensive Four Valleys ski area, which offers 412km of diverse, skiable terrain.

The quaint, charming resort is home to a mix of traditional alpine-style chalets and modern apartments, many of which are ski-in-ski-out, making it an ideal base for keen skiers. The snow-sure resort typically enjoys a good snowfall from December through to April, ensuring plenty of great skiing days throughout the season.

Skiing in Veysonnaz

With 412km of pisted terrain to discover, Veysonnaz is a skiing paradise for all abilities. The resort offers two lift pass options; a Veysonnaz-only ski pass, which gives access to over 100km of local pistes, and the full Four Valleys ski pass, which unlocks the entire 412km of skiable terrain across the four valleys.

For beginners, the gentle slopes around the Mayens chairlift offer an ideal learning ground, while the blue run down from Thyon is a great step up.

The resort truly comes into its own for intermediate and advanced skiers, with a vast choice of red and black runs. The Piste de l’Ours, a World Cup downhill slope, is a must for daredevils, while the itinerary routes from Mont Fort and Mont Gelé provide a thrilling off-piste experience.

Freestyle skiers and snowboarders aren’t left out either, with a snowpark in Thyon and an excellent funpark in nearby Nendaz, both easily accessible from Veysonnaz.

Is Veysonnaz Family-friendly?

Veysonnaz is a fantastic ski resort for families, with a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and a range of family-friendly accommodation options. The compact resort layout makes it easy to navigate, and the range of pistes means there’s something to suit all abilities. Additionally, there are plenty of non-skiing activities to enjoy, such as sledging, snowshoeing and indoor swimming.

Après-Ski Scene in Veysonnaz

Veysonnaz might be more laid-back than some of the larger resorts, but it still offers a good selection of bars and restaurants for après-ski enjoyment. Bar Le Centre and Bar Why Not offer a cosy, friendly atmosphere, while the Caboulis nightclub is the place to head for late-night dancing.

When it comes to dining, Veysonnaz doesn’t disappoint. Restaurant Les Caboulis offers traditional Swiss cuisine with stunning mountain views, while L’Aigle offers gourmet dining at its best. For a hearty mountain meal, try the Raclette at Café du Pont.

How to Get to Veysonnaz

The nearest airport to Veysonnaz is Sion Airport, just a 30-minute drive away. Other close airports include Geneva Airport (2h), Zurich Airport (2h 45m) and Bern Airport (2h 15m). If you’re travelling by train, the nearest station is Sion, then it’s a short bus ride up to the resort.
