About Cervinia

Cervinia is a snow-sure paradise, with majestic views of the Matterhorn.
Situated at 2,050m in the Aosta Valley of the northwestern Italian Alps, Cervinia lies near the Swiss border and beneath the iconic Italian side of the Matterhorn, known locally as ‘Monte Cervino’.

This renowned ski resort boasts some of the most reliable snow conditions in the Alps, with glacier terrain that enables year-round skiing. Compared to its Swiss neighbour, Zermatt ski resort, Cervinia offers more beginner-friendly terrain, featuring wide, gentle runs and consistently excellent snow cover, making it an ideal destination for less experienced to intermediate skiers.

Combined with our private ski lessons in Cervinia tailored specifically for beginners, it ranks among the top destinations for those progressing from beginner to intermediate levels. Our qualified, English-speaking and multilingual ski instructors are ready to guide you every step of the way.

For advanced skiers, Cervinia offers some exciting off-piste skiing opportunities as well. Boasting a top lift that reaches 3,899 metres and glacier skiing famous across skiers around the globe, Cervinia offers an unmatched mecca for expert skiers and snowboarders. However, due to the challenging high-mountain terrain, hiring a guide is essential.

The Vallone di Cime Bianche is a popular spot, offering vast expanses of untouched snow, while the descent from the Theodul Glacier into Zermatt is a favourite, providing a thrilling ride with varied snow conditions and breathtaking alpine views.

Ski lessons in Cervinia

What is the skiing like in Cervinia for beginners?

Cervinia is a great resort for beginners. With its gentle, wide slopes, especially in the Plan Maison area, newcomers can learn and progress in a confidence-boosting environment. The resort's high altitude also ensures good snow conditions on the nursery slopes and there are a range of easy blue pistes that beginners can progress onto.

What is the skiing like in Cervinia for intermediate?

Intermediate and strong beginner skiers will enjoy the expansive terrain that Cervinia offers. With a vast range of blue and red pistes, especially towards Valtournenche, intermediates can cover significant distances and even venture into Zermatt (Switzerland) for a cross-border skiing experience. The long runs, some stretching over 20km, are great for those looking for an adventure.

What is the skiing like in Cervinia for experts?

While Cervinia is known for its cruising slopes, expert skiers are not left out. The resort offers challenging black runs, and for those seeking off-piste adventures, the glacier promises thrilling descents. Furthermore, the connection to Zermatt provides more advanced terrains, such as the challenging runs of piste 59 (Pista Nera del Cervino) and piste 8 (Obere Nationa).

When is the best time to ski in Cervinia?

Cervinia's ski season is impressively long, often starting in October and stretching until May. Given its altitude, snow is typically consistent and reliable. While Christmas, New Year, and February school holidays can see a spike in visitors, March and April offer great snow and warmer weather.
