Chatel sits within the huge Portes Du Soleil ski area, one of the most popular ski areas in the world, it's made up of 3 ski areas: Super Chatel, Linga and Pre la Joux. Chatel is very much a traditional alpine village and is located right near the Swiss border, making it easy to ski into Morgins or Les Crossets ski resorts. It's popular for those looking for a quieter holiday, away from the large crowds which tend to be attracted to Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets.

Given its position within the Portes du Soleil, intermediates have access to a wide range of blue and red pistes that crisscross through the different resorts. The runs in the Linga and Pré-la-Joux sectors are particularly popular and there is even the occasional black run that confident intermediates can try out.

Although known for its intermediate slopes, advanced skiers will find challenging terrain to tackle in Chatel. The off-piste opportunities are vast, especially when venturing deeper into the Portes du Soleil area. The black runs at Linga and the couloirs near Pas de Morgins are highlights for many expert skiers.

Châtel is usually open from mid December till mid April. The months of January and February can see heavy snowfall, offering optimal skiing conditions, however, in February it can be very busy with the school holidays.

This qualification also includes numerous teaching and technical performance diplomas in skiing or snowboarding, European mountain safety courses and the Euro speed test. The instructors are also required to have a criminal record check and a first aid certificate.

Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Finland, Scotland, Spain – all verified instructors must carry a minimum level of qualification which must be at the ISIA card level or above. Independent instructors must also provide documentation to show they meet the local regulatory requirements to teach.
