About Meribel

Meribel is one of the most popular resorts in the expansive Three Valleys.
Méribel sits at the heart of the Three Valleys, the world's largest linked ski area, with over 600km of pistes connecting resorts including Courchevel, Val Thorens, Saint Martin de Belleville and Les Menuires. The resort itself is made up of several villages - Méribel Centre, Méribel Village and Méribel-Mottaret - each offering direct access to the slopes. Méribel centre is set at 1,450m in the Tarentaise Valley, with lifts reaching 2,952m at the summit of Mont Vallon. The resort offers strong snow cover, with its season running from early December to late April.

Méribel suits skiers and snowboarders of every level, from beginners learning on the Altiport plateau to experts taking on the Olympic black runs, and its central position makes it the natural base for exploring the entire Three Valleys ski area. Whatever your level or goal, booking a private ski or snowboard lesson in Méribel with one of Maison Sport's verified, multi-lingual instructors is the best way to make the most of this exceptional mountain.

Meribel FAQs

Méribel is an excellent resort for beginner skiers, with two dedicated nursery areas at the Altiport and Mottaret, each with free lifts and gentle beginner-friendly terrain. The natural next step is the Perdrix and Truite runs, accessed from the Tougnète gondola - long, wide greens that carry you all the way from Mottaret back into Méribel Centre. Low traffic and a gentle gradient make them ideal for building confidence. Book a private beginner ski lesson or an adult group lesson in Méribel for expert guidance from your very first turns.

Méribel is one of the best intermediate destinations in the Alps. Standout blue runs for intermediates include the long, scenic Biche and Jerusalem pistes, perfect for building carving confidence. If you are looking for a challenge, the Mauduit red, dropping over 1,000m from the Saulire summit to Chaudanne, offers a more technical descent. For a full-day adventure, the Three Valleys circuit through Courchevel and back via Les Menuires covers over 60km on mostly blue and red terrain. Book a private ski lesson in Méribel to find the best routes for your level.

Méribel offers some excellent terrain for expert skiers. The Face black run - originally the 1992 Olympic Women's Downhill - and the Roc de Fer piste, host of the 2015 World Cup Finals and 2023 World Championships, are the headline on-piste challenges - tackle these early for the best snow. For off-piste, the couloirs beneath the Saulire and Mont Vallon offer advanced terrain that separates Méribel from other Three Valleys resorts. Book an expert private ski lesson or explore our dedicated off-piste ski lessons in Méribel to ski these lines safely.

Méribel is open from early December to late April, with strong snowmaking on key pistes ensuring reliable conditions throughout. January offers quieter slopes and better value, while February half-term and Easter are the busiest periods. In March and April, skiers are rewarded with spring sunshine, low prices and uncrowded slopes. Book your ski lessons in Méribel early to secure your preferred instructor, especially during peak weeks.

Méribel is consistently rated one of the best family ski resorts in the Alps. The Altiport and Mottaret nursery areas keep young beginners away from busy slopes. When they are ready for the next step, the Piste des Animaux is a fun, themed green run, while the scenic Lapin blue run down to Méribel village is a quiet piste perfect for mixed-ability families. Book a children's group ski school lesson in Méribel or a private instructor, depending on age and ability.
