About Morzine

Morzine is a great resort for families and first time skiers.
Morzine is a great resort for families, children and first time skiers. Conveniently located within 1.5 hours of Geneva, it is suitable for both weekend ski trips and family ski holidays.

Morzine is part of one of the largest ski areas in the world, the Portes du Soleil, which consists of 14 ski resorts, providing skiers and snowboarders with almost 600km of ski runs.

Whilst Morzine sits at a relatively low altitude, its snow record is excellent and it is close to the higher altitude snow-sure slopes of Avoriaz. You can also ski in Les Gets and Chatel, or ski over the border to Switzerland and ski in Champery.

The resort of Morzine offers plenty of restaurants and bars and has a wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets and needs.

Morzine is perfect for beginners with plenty of wide and gentle pistes, ideal for learning to ski. There is a dedicated beginners area with an enclosed magic carpet at the top of the Pléney gondola and you can then progress onto nearby blue runs accessed from the Nabor and Belvedere chairlifts.

Intermediate skiers can explore the vast terrain of Morzine which is well connected with blue and red runs. Explore the Nyon plateau by following gentle blue slopes from the top of the Pléney gondola or venture into neighbouring Les Gets and challenge yourself on some steeper but quieter pistes.

What is the skiing like in Morzine for experts?

Expert skiers will find plenty of steeper and more challenging runs in Morzine and can take advantage of the high altitude slopes of Avoriaz and Les Gets. The Chammosière Express chairlift provides access to excellent off piste terrain and the unpisted black run is a must for experienced skiers.

When is the best time to ski in Morzine?

Morzine is open from mid December to early April and although at 1000m the town can look quite green early or late in the season, the higher altitude slopes and nearby Avoriaz always have excellent snow cover.
