How many off-piste skiing lessons should I book in Verbier?

Beginners

Private lessons are personalised to your needs, so you will improve your technique rapidly, compared to a ski school group lesson. If you have an unlimited budget and are really looking to make the most of your time on the mountain, we recommend booking an instructor all day for the full week you're on holiday. For complete beginners the most common lesson package is to book 2 to 3 hours of lessons each day - remember you can share the lessons with friends or family to bring the cost down.

Intermediates

Whilst booking lessons for the full week is our recommendation, you could also split your lessons througout the week. Booking lessons for your first and second day in resort and then booking another one slightly later in the week will ensure your technique keeps progressing.

Experts

Even expert skiers will greatly benefit from taking some private lessons, you can book an instructor to work on a specific aspect of your technique, such as improving your technique on steep slopes or if you simply want a guide to show you where to find the best snow conditions, your instructor will be able to help! A handy tip - if you're only after one lesson, try booking in the afternoon as it's often cheaper!

off-piste skiing equipment

What equipment is required for off-piste skiing lessons?

You will need to take your own equipment to your private off piste skiing lesson, your instructor will be able to advise you if you need anything specific and if you're unsure of anything you can always send them a message or ask the Maison Sport Customer Success team. You will need to take skis, boots and poles for your lessons as well as an avalanche pack, which should contain a transceiver, shovel and probe.

FAQs about off-piste skiing lessons

We've listed the common questions about off-piste skiing lessons, if you can't find what you're looking for please contact us on live-chat or WhatsApp.

To book a private off piste lesson: simply enter the dates you’re interested in and select a resort. You will then be able to scroll through a list of available instructors and view their profiles. Once you have found an instructor, simply select the lessons you would like and click book now, which will take you to the checkout.

Most instructors providing off-piste skiing lessons offer the same rate whether it's just you taking the lesson or if you learn with friends or family (upto 6 max). Some instructors charge an extra rate for additional people. You select the number of participants as you search Maison Sport, the prices displayed will always include any additional charges for group members, so you can compare all prices fairly.

You can share a private lesson with another person who is of a different standard, the instructor will take you on slopes which match the lowest ability level in your group, however they will still be able to provide all the skiers in the group individual feedback on their skiing.

Private ski lessons offer more flexibility than a lot of other lessons, so you will be able to discuss a convenient meeting point with your instructor. If you're booking a full day lesson, it's likely the instructor can be very flexible, however if your lesson is in the middle of the day, it will need to fit in with the instructor's other lessons. We recommend confirming the meeting point well in advance of arriving in resort.

If the snow or weather conditions are not safe to ski off piste, the instructor will suggest some alternative options or may even suggest re-scheduling to another day, if possible.
