Flaine Ski Resort Overview

Flaine stats

Flaine is a popular ski resort set in the heart of the Haute-Savoie in France. Purpose-built in the 1960s, it is not the most architecturally charming resort, but what it may lack in charm it makes up for with its prime position on the mountain. Sitting at 1,600m, the high-altitude resort is almost entirely ski-in-ski-out and offers some incredible skiing for all abilities.

Thanks to its position snuggled in a north-facing bowl on the side of the Grand Massif, Flaine has a unique microclimate that ensures it gets good snow all season, and a good dusting of snow makes even Flaine’s angular buildings look fairy-tale-worthy!

Flaine is a gateway to the Grand Massif ski area, which links it to Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval via an excellent lift system, offering a vast amount of top-tier skiable terrain. Flaine is a budget-friendly resort and ski pass prices are some of the cheapest in the French Alps. Cost-effective and convenient, Flaine has a lot going for it! It’s no wonder why it’s such a popular resort!

Skiing in Flaine

Flaine caters for all standards of skiing. The Grand Massif ski area, one of the largest ski areas in the French Alps, offers varied terrain including gentle slopes for beginners, challenging runs for advanced skiers, and off-piste options for those seeking more adventure!
