The ski resort features some of the finest nursery slopes for beginner skiers, including the 'Ecole' piste at the summit of the Prarion lift on the Prarion plateau. The 'Mont Blanc' piste, located at the top of the Bellevue cable car, is slightly longer than the 'Ecole' run. Both pistes are served by their drag lifts, and 'Ecole' also has a slow-moving chairlift, ideal for practising how to get on and off. With its gentle gradient, 'Ecole' is perfect for beginners, but once you've mastered the basics, you may want to progress to one of the nearby blue pistes.

Intermediate skiers will find a great mix of blue and red runs in Les Houches. The pistes are diverse, ranging from wide open slopes to narrower tree-lined trails. The resort's placement in the Chamonix valley means skiers can also easily explore nearby areas for more terrain.

While Les Houches might not be as challenging as some of the higher altitude resorts, it still offers a few thrilling black runs and off-piste areas for the more experienced. The resort is also home to the famous La Verte World Cup downhill run, which offers a unique challenge for expert skiers wanting to test their skills.

Les Houches is generally open from mid December till early April. Despite the low altitude, the resort's tree-lined runs can retain snow well, even in warmer conditions. Visiting in late January or early March provides a good balance of great snow conditions and fewer crowds.

This qualification also includes numerous teaching and technical performance diplomas in skiing or snowboarding, European mountain safety courses and the Euro speed test. The instructors are also required to have a criminal record check and a first aid certificate.

Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Finland, Scotland, Spain – all verified instructors must carry a minimum level of qualification which must be at the ISIA card level or above. Independent instructors must also provide documentation to show they meet the local regulatory requirements to teach.
