About Megeve

Megeve is one of France's most beautiful and popular resorts
Megeve attracts skiers and snowboarders from all over the world and is renowned for its lovely mountain village, fantastic restaurants and extravagant chalets and hotels. It's part of the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area, which gives access to over 445km of ski runs. The resort sits at around 1,100 metres above sea level, and at this altitude, there are still a lot of trees lining either side of the pistes.

Our popular ski lessons in Megeve include private lessons for skiing and snowboarding, as well as group ski lessons designed for both adults and children. The ski resort is particularly well-suited for beginners, offering numerous gentle and beginner-friendly slopes. Notably, the Snow Gardens, located at the foot of the Jaillet gondola (part of the Domaine Les Portes du Mont-Blanc) and near the Mont d’Arbois gondola (within the Megeve Ski Area), provide safe and secure areas for young and beginner skiers. Additionally, Mont d'Arbois features nursery slopes and a variety of gentle green and blue runs, making it an ideal area for novices and intermediate skiers. The Jaillet area also offers slopes suitable for beginners while catering to skiers of different skill levels.

For those seeking activities beyond skiing, Megeve offers a sophisticated après-ski scene that sets it apart from the more party-focused resorts. That said, there is no shortage of bars, restaurants, and cafés to enjoy. The Jazz Club de Megève is a favourite for live music and cocktails, while Bar-Tabac Saint-Paul is the perfect spot for a relaxing drink after a day on the slopes.

In addition to skiing, Megeve provides a range of non-skiing mountain activities, including dog sledging and snowshoe hiking. A highlight of the winter season is La Grande Odyssée, an annual spectacle featuring over 68 mushers and 600 sledge dogs travelling through 20 resorts and villages across the Alps.

With lots of sheltered green and blue slopes, Megeve is a beginner’s paradise; coupled with short lift queues and quiet pistes, it’s not hard to imagine why Megeve is so popular. There are nursery slopes on the valley floor around many of the main lifts but if snow is scarce head up to Mont d’Arbois to discover lots of perfect beginner slopes.

Intermediates and strong beginners can explore the huge area accessed with an Evasion Mont-Blanc ski pass and adventure into the surrounding mountains, visiting nearby resorts such as St Gervais and St Nicolas de Véroce. For strong intermediates, some excellent red pistes can be discovered in the Le Jaillet area and you will also have the benefit of quiet pistes with beautiful scenery.

Whilst Megeve is not known for its off-piste and tough terrain, there is still plenty to entertain expert skiers and challenging terrain can be sought out. Advanced skiers should head towards Mont Joly where a number of tricky black runs can be found. Megeve also has some great tree skiing on offer and you’ll find that on powder days there is far less of a scramble for the fresh snow!

Megeve is open from mid December till early April, although the lower slopes may be closed early or late in the season if there is a lack of snow. Megeve can get very busy during the school holidays, however, with its vast ski area, the crowds quickly disappear.

This qualification also includes numerous teaching and technical performance diplomas in skiing or snowboarding, European mountain safety courses and the Euro speed test. The instructors are also required to have a criminal record check and a first aid certificate.

Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Finland, Scotland, Spain – all verified instructors must carry a minimum level of qualification which must be at the ISIA card level or above. Independent instructors must also provide documentation to show they meet the local regulatory requirements to teach.
